Rosberg capitalised on Hamilton’s error for Italian Grand Prix victory and seven other talking points coming out of Monza.

Hamilton had mastered the Temple of Speed on Saturday as the Brit secured his third-straight Monza pole. But a launch error for Hamilton sent him down to sixth, while Rosberg walked off into the sunset with the 25-points in his pocket. In Rosberg’s wake also laid the retirement of Massa, the retirement/non-retirement of Button and a potential new owner of Formula One.

Italian GP | Rosberg claims controlled victory after Hamilton’s poor start

Nico Rosberg wins the 2016 Italian Grand Prix.

Monza, the Temple of Speed, but speed was not entirely needed for Rosberg as he walked off into the sunset to claim victory at the Italian Grand Prix. Hamilton had begun the day sitting on pole, but would be forced to settle for second as Nico further reduced the Brit’s championship lead.

In a session littered with mechanical issues, Hamilton topped the timesheet at his home Grand Prix for the second time today. Rosberg rockets Q3 to edge Hamilton to pole position for the Brazilian Grand Prix

Pole position for the Brazilian Grand Prix secured by Nico Rosberg.

After being under Hamilton’s thumb during Q1 and Q2, Rosberg found the edge in the final qualifying stage to claim his fifth pole in a row. Hamilton himself was chasing pole number 50 but will have to search for his first Brazilian Grand Prix victory from second on the grid.

Rosberg tops a double red flagged Canadian Grand Prix FP3

Nico Rosberg fastest from Raikkonen and Grosjean in final free practice at the 2015 Canadian Grand Prix.

With just an hour on track teams had to set their cars up for qualifying and make up for the lost time from second free practice. But two red flags meant supersoft running was limited but when the chequered flag fell over the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Rosberg was the fastest man on track with a 1:15.660.
