Spanish GP | FP2 leaves Grosjean angry and Rosberg on top

Red Bull relegate Kvyat and promote Verstappen

On the back of an awful Russian Grand Prix, Red Bull shake up their driver line up for Spain. 

In a move to protect their star of the future, Red Bull drop Daniil Kvyat and rush Max Verstappen into the main team for the Spanish Grand Prix onwards. The move comes on the back of Kvyat making contact with Vettel twice during the opening lap in Sochi, costing the team a strong result.

Under the glorious Spanish sun, Nico Rosberg claimed his first win of the season after dominating the Spanish Grand Prix. A race where pole position wins are high, and today Rosberg utilised a great launch to hold onto his lead into turn one. Hamilton had to recover from a poor start but the best he could manage was second after Vettel kept the Silver Arrow at bay for most of the race.

Nico Rosberg holds off Hamilton to top qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix

Pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix goes to Nico Rosberg after taking the top spot in qualifying.

After an hour of action at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Rosberg clinched the top spot and will start the race from pole position. Lewis Hamilton missed out on snatching pole from Rosberg by just 0.267 seconds after a dominate performance from the German.

Nico Rosberg fastest in final free practice at the Spanish Grand Prix

After 60-minutes of running, Nico Rosberg topped the time sheets in the final practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix.

The weather in Barcelona remained warm and dry as Rosberg thumped home a fastest lap to carry the lead into qualifying. It may have been an “excellent, excellent” session for Nico, whose 1:26.021 ensured he finished in P1, with Vettel and Hamilton tucked in behind. But the session did not end excellently for Raikkonen.
